It has been shown to promote separation of DNA strands that contain mismatches or are modified by cisplatin, and shown to have endonucleolytic activity that can introduce nicks or breaks into double-stranded DNA (in vitro). YB1 may play a role in DNA repair. It is a component of the CRD-mediated complex that promotes MYC mRNA stability [taken from the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) P67809].
